Ali

Ali

Hi! I'm Ali!  I was adopted as a kitten but sadly was returned to GMS because my person passed away. I was previously adopted with my brother Pierre but we talked about it and we agreed we'll both be happier if we go our separate ways.

I’m a very pretty and very sweet kitty, or as my foster human says, a total sweetheart. I was nervous when I first arrived in my foster home but even though I was scared, I couldn’t say no to pets. I was even making lots of biscuits while purring loudly from the comfort of my kitty cave. Now that I’m feeling more comfortable, I’m coming out from my safe place to explore and say “hi”.

I also find comfort in food, but in a cute and healthy way. When I receive pets and am happy and purring, I’ll go eat a few bites of food and my foster human thinks it’s so endearing. Now let’s talk about Churu treats. Wow!! Where have they been all of my life? I’ll happily hop up onto your lap and love you forever for a Churu!

I love receiving scritches on my face and I’ve mastered the elevator butt. I rub myself on furniture and my humans while purring when I’m a happy girl. Something else that makes me happy is being all warm and cozy. I’ve already found the purrfect spot next to the heater and my foster humans even put a kitty heating pad on my bed… squee! When things quiet down I hop up to the top of my tree and observe my kingdom from up high.

I’ve been slowly opening up to playtime and the wand toy has peaked my interest but my need to play isn’t what it used to be. Pets, food, and warm cozy spots are more appealing to me these days but I do have a bit of a playful side that comes out now and then.

I’m looking for a quieter home with a patient family who understands it will take me time to fully open up. I will be happiest as the only kitty in my forever home but am open to living with another kitty as long as the kitty is mellow and kind. I have so much love to share and I can’t wait to meet my new family and settle into my forever home!

Ashley

Ashley

Hi! We’re Ashley and Slippers, an energetic pair of bonded siblings searching for our forever home. We enjoy doing everything together - from racing up and down our cat tree to observing birds and wildlife in action from our window. When we’re ready to wind down, we stretch out on the bed or cuddle up inside our cozy cave to nap and recharge. We love playing with our foster mom and our favorite games are anything that involves leaping up into the air to catch the feather wand toy!

We’re dreaming of our ideal forever home with someone who spends time at home hanging out and playing with us. Our foster home has resident cats who have been welcoming and curious while we explore. After exploring, we always run back to our foster room for playtime. We’ll thrive in a relaxed environment with routines and a balance of interactive playtime, relaxation to recharge, and some independence to explore our new furever home.

I’m a beautiful gray tabby with gorgeous green eyes that are highlighted with white eyeliner. I’m shy about being pet and picked up, but am learning every day to enjoy physical affection from our foster mom and her friends just like my confident sister, Slippers, who is outgoing and begs for pets. Our foster mom learned quickly that I’m a sucker for Churu treats and will lick them up from her hand while being pet on my head with a fuzzy pom pom wand. She uses the wand to help me appreciate how wonderful pets feel and it works! I love sitting at the top of my cat tree and by the windows to birdwatch and I have lots of fun playing with the feather, spring, and snake toys. I’m curious about my surroundings so you’ll find me exploring and observing my foster mom and resident kitties. I’m looking for someone who will be patient and will continue showing me how fabulous it is to be loved on and pet as much as my sister.

You can see more of us in our foster home. Just click here @ashley_and_slippers to go to our Instagram account.

BeBop

BeBop

Hi! We're BeBop and PacMan (but our foster human calls us BB and Paco for short)! We were surrendered when our previous person was about to become homeless due to medical reasons. She was so worried about our safety and didn't want us to end up in a shelter where who knows what would have happened to us. We were sad seeing her worry so much about us because we knew all of the stress wasn't helping her health. When Give Me Shelter agreed to help us find a new family she was so relieved, and so were we!

I’m a very curious, quirky and confident boy. I have lots of energy and I love to run around and play fetch even though I never return the toy… hee hee. I’m obsessed with string toys, go crazy for toys with catnip, and make humans laugh when I leap up in the air. I can become a bit restless when I’m not played with so I really need a family who will dedicate time to playing with me. I’m a bit more independent than my best furiend PacMan but I’m a chatty guy and will make sure you know when I want attention!

We’re extremely gentle, loving and easy-going best furiends who are looking for a home together. We both love curling up on our cat tree and napping all afternoon long, but will be happiest in a home where there humans are usually around because we really love human companionship! Maybe you’re the purrfect family for us!

Cadbury

Cadbury

Hi! We're Cadbury and Hershey! We were rescued in Doha, Qatar. We were rescued from a colony where a caring human was feeding us and other kitties. She fell in love with us and knew we needed to get off the streets and into a safe and loving home so she took us to a sanctuary where we flourished and showed just how pawsome we are. Then we went to a doctor to be vetted and that’s when they found out we’re FIV+. Unfortunately humans in Qatar think differently about FIV+ cats than they do here in the US. Even knowing how amazing we are, our rescuers knew it would be difficult finding a home there and they worried we might end up back on the streets if in the wrong human hands.

We’re extremely handsome, super sweet, very loving and generally calm kitties, although we do have a playful side too! When we first arrived we immediately came out of our carriers to check out things and say hello. I was a tad bit nervous when I first came out of my carrier but after exploring the room a few times, I began asking for pets. After we had a chance to stretch our legs after our long flight and receive some love, it was time to head to our foster home! Yay!

We were excited to greet our foster human and check out our foster home when we got here. We settled in nicely and now we’re having such a great time playing, receiving lots of attention, and finally being able to relax and not worry about the dangers and uncertainties we faced when we lived on the streets. This indoor lifestyle is incredible! We get to play chase and tag, eat lots of yummy food and relax with our human. I like to sit by our human’s feet while Hershey likes the higher spots so it works out purrfectly for everyone. And while we both love receiving attention, especially in the morning, we never compete for it.

We’re looking for a home together, preferably with a multi-human family so we can receive extra love and attention. We traveled a long way to find our forever home and are so excited to finally have a family to share our love!

Concerned about me being FIV+? There's lots of informative reading material online to free you of any worries. I can live a long healthy life and safely with other cats, meow. Here's one website that offers some important information - Best Friends - FIV FAQs

Carlito

Carlito

Hi! We're Carlito and Fofo! We were rescued in Shasta County.

Our foster humans call me Lee-lee for short and I’m the “big brother”, not because I’m older but rather because I’m bigger in size. Our foster humans joke that I hogged all of the nutrients in our mama’s womb. Maybe that’s why Fofo tries to steal my wet food, he’s getting his revenge… hee hee.

I’m the more affectionate brother and will ask for pets by rubbing up against our humans. And once I’m feeling more comfortable I’ll even throw in some licks. I’m a purer. Sometimes I’ll even start purring when humans look at me. I love being around humans and will find them in the house so I can be near them.

I also have a playful side, maybe not as playful as my brother but I like to think I can sometimes match his energy level. Stringy toys are my favorite and will even tackle some shoelaces when out foster humans are putting on their shoes. And being that Fofo is so animated, I have lots of fun playing with him too.

If you’re looking to add two sweet brothers with lots of purrsonality to your family, you should apply to meet us!

You can see more of us here @buttlickers_anonymous.

Cece

Cece

Hi! My name is Cece! I was rescued at ACT Spay/Neuter Clinic in Stockton, CA.

I'm a sweet and friendly kitty. I initially come across as shy but only because it takes me a little time to open up and reveal my true purrsonality. Once I open up, I'll seek out your attention and show off my purrs and muffin-making skills. I'll even sleep on the bed with you at night... meow.

I'm looking for an experienced and patient family who understands some kitties require a little more time than others to feel comfy in new environments and around new humans. And if you already have a kitty at home, that's fine with me because I get along well with other kitties.

I know some of my Instagram fans and people who have met me at the adoption fairs are probably wondering why I haven’t been adopted by a loving family yet. I’m beautiful, sweet as can be, and love humans, so what’s the holdup? Well, let me explain. I have Manx Syndrome and it’s important for people to understand what this is. Some cats with Manx Syndrome lose mobility and aren’t able to jump but that isn’t true for me because I have full mobility and get around just fine. I can run, jump, play, and groom myself. However, in my case, I don’t always use the litter box consistently. I also experience constipation. My foster human has discovered how to better manage this and is happy to explain to you what she’s done. There’s definitely a way to keep things neat and tidy, it just requires a little extra effort. Oh, and If you would like to learn more about me and my condition, you can contact our team and my foster mom will tell you more about me and answer any questions.

I have so much love to give and am looking for a big-hearted family committed to my long-term care and well-being. Could that be you?

You can see more of me by checking out @purrfect_purrminators on Instagram and my new Instagram dedicated just to me @adopt_cece.

Dusty

Dusty

Hi! We're Dusty and Mouse! We were rescued at ACT Spay/Neuter Clinic in Stockton, CA.

I’m an affectionate kitty with the purrfect balance of playfulness and calmness. I’m a bit cautious and shy in new environments but it doesn’t take me long to warm up, especially with the help of Mouse. She’s a very confident kitty and is an excellent mentor.

I’m more mellow than Mouse but this doesn’t mean I don’t love to play. I just like to have some “me time” during the day and recharge with a nap, often in a different room or up high on a perch or cat tree before hanging out with Mouse and my humans. Once I’ve rested and recharged, I’m ready for love and play.

I’m all about affection! I love receiving pets and belly rubs, and I purr loudly to express my happiness and cravings for more pets. My playful side typically comes out later in the day. I love to play with toys, wrestle with Mouse and ride out my zoomies. We have lots of toys in our foster home and it takes me a little longer to let loose and REALLY play with them but that doesn’t mean I’m not having tons of fun while loosening up!

We’re looking for a home together with a family who’s fun and loving, just like us!!

You can see more of us here @foster_cat_daddy.

Fanny

Fanny

Hi! I'm Fanny! I was found living outside of a motel in Lodi, CA. One of the humans there told my finders I’m 28 years old! I tried to tell them I’m not that old but for some reason they didn’t understand what I was meowing. That’s okay though because Give Me Shelter took me to a vet and the doctor said she thinks I’m closer to 14 years old so now they know.

I’m a calm, friendly and very affectionate kitty. I’ll greet you when you come home and when you come near me because I love humans and receiving attention from them. I’m a 100% lapcat! There’s nothing I love more than lying on my human’s lap with a blanket and receiving face rubs and pets. Give me a soft blanket and I’ll show you why I hold the Biscuit Queen title.

I also love food, but you don’t need to worry about me jumping on the counters because I’m really not interested in jumping and climbing. Those adventurous days are behind me and I’m just looking forward to chill and relaxing days ahead.

I can’t wait to cozy up with my forever family and share my sweet and serene purrsonality with them!

Finn

Finn

Hi! My name is Finn! I was rescued in Tracy, CA.

I’m a cute, friendly, playful and kindhearted kitty. I can initially be a little shy in new environments but I open up quickly when I’m given a little space and treats, don’t forget the treats! Once I’m feeling comfy in my home, I’ll approach any human who’s offering pets!

I love humans and receiving lots of love and attention from them. I’ve learned that my unique and adorable meow is my forte when eliciting attention. I’ll be ready and waiting to greet you when you come home and you guessed it, my meow will earn pets before you even have a chance to sit down. I also love kitty furiends and am trying to be furiends with the kitty in my foster home but she's very shy. I’m just going to continue to be friendly and maybe she’ll come around so we can play together.

I have lots of fun energy and love to play. But life is about balance so after playtime, I’ll lie down next to you and relax or even snooze for a bit. I definitely have a cuddly side and although I might not want to sit in one place for too long, I’ll come to you asking for short cuddle sessions throughout the day and night.

I’m looking for a home with space for me to roam and explore and a family who will give me lots of pets and love. And having a furiend in my forever home would be fun too, but isn’t a must. Maybe you’re the family for me!

Fofo

Fofo

Hi! We're Fofo and Carlito! We were rescued in Shasta County.

I may be smaller than my brother in size but I’m the more confident and spunky brother. I’m super energetic and playful. Our foster humans have this really fun feather wand toy I love to play with and playing chase with Carlito is always loads of fun too! I get so excited about playing with toys, sometimes maybe a little too excited. Our foster humans tell me I’m not allowed to play with certain toys when they aren’t around because I chew on them a little too much. I’m fine with this because there are plenty of other toys to keep me entertained.

I like to say Fofo is my name and playing is my game, well playing and food... tee-hee! I love food and I get excited when it’s mealtime. My canned food is so yum yum yummy, and human food looks really yummy too. Sometimes I pretend I’m a ninja and try to steal a bite of my foster human's food but they're teaching me this is a no no. Shucks.

I’m not as forthcoming with affection as my brother is but this doesn’t mean I don’t love humans and receiving attention. I really enjoy receiving nose scritches and purring while receiving pets, I'm just not super demanding of attention.

If you’re looking to add two sweet brothers with lots of purrsonality to your family, you should apply to meet us!

Gigi

Gigi

Hi! I'm Gigi! I was rescued at Sacramento SPCA after my person died.

I’m a beautiful, affectionate, and shy kitty with a playful side. When humans meet me they really want to pet me, and I can’t blame them because my fur is fabulous and my tail is glorious, but I’m cautious and shy in new environments and around humans I don’t know. I prefer to take things slowly while getting to know humans, but once I know I can trust you, my sweet and affectionate purrsonality opens up!

I was very nervous when I first arrived in my foster home and although I hid most of the time, I did find a comfy and safe place to call my own... my kitty bed. I made my bed my safe place where I could observe my new surroundings while feeling safe and sound. After a short time, I began welcoming pets from my foster humans and sharing my purrs with them while relaxing in my bed. Now I’m walking around and exploring more and although I’m still not comfy receiving pets while I’m not in my bed, I’m spending more time in the room with my foster humans and feeling more at ease.

I do have a playful side and have been entertaining myself by batting, chasing, and rolling around with my toys. I wasn’t interested in playing with my foster humans before but now I’m now beginning to open up to it and it’s proving to be quite fun.

There’s a very chill resident kitty here and although I didn’t pay attention to him when I first arrived, I’m showing interest now that I’m feeling more comfortable. When he’s around I’ll come out to say “hi” and flop down in front of him to show my belly and purr. Having a chill kitty furiend in my forever home would be nice but isn't a must.

As I mentioned, I’m cautious and shy in new environments so I need a patient family who understands I’ll need time to adjust. If you give me your patience, I purromise I’ll reward you with all of my love!

You can see more of me here @sf_fosterfriend.

Ginger

Ginger

Hi! My name is Ginger! I was surrendered when my previous person had to move to a long-term care facility. I never thought I would ever lose my person or my home, especially at my age, but sadly I did. At first I was skeptical I would be able to adapt to a new home and new humans but after some time in my foster home I realized I was wrong!

I’m a beautiful, calm and affectionate orange Tabby girl. Yep, I’m an uncommon female orange Tabby. Humans often assume all orange Tabbies are males but there’s a small percentage of us females mixed in and we're special.

I’m initially shy in new environments and around new humans but it’s understandable after not having to face change for so many years. I was content and comfortable in my previous home with my person for so long and honestly, I can’t remember the last time I dealt with any major life changes. Change can be scary and overwhelming but a quiet and calm environment really helps me while I’m adjusting to so much newness. It took me a while to warm up in my foster home but my foster human was so patient and loving while she observed me and took baby steps towards gaining my trust.

She quickly learned that I’m very food motivated so she used yummy Hills i/d food to help me feel more comfortable out in the open and to help build my confidence. Once I settled in and felt more relaxed, I revealed my ultra affectionate purrsonality. I love nothing more than sitting next to my human and receiving pets and every now and then I even like to play with a fun string toy. I adore humans once I get to know them and will let you know how happy I am to see you with my tiny squeaks!

I’m looking for a calm home with a family who will be patient with me while I adapt to my new surroundings and get to know you. Oh and who will also continue to feed me the Hills prescription food I love (hence the special needs label). Now I know change isn’t bad like I imagined it would be and I can’t wait to meet my forever family!

Goldie Hawn

Goldie Hawn

Hi! We're Goldie Hawn and Kurt Russell but you can call us Goldie and Kurt! We were rescued from a hoarding situation in Contra Costa County.

How cute are we?! Well according to our foster human and the other humans who have met us, we’re the cutest cuties. But wait, there’s more… we have winning purrsonalities too! We’re confident, curious, gentle, affectionate and playful.

We immediately explored our foster home side by side when we first arrived. We had lots of new things to check out and we were ready and willing to get started. While exploring we came across toys and knew we were going to have lots of fun here. We enjoy playing with toys but we also love to chase each other and wrestle. We still have kitten energy so sometimes we can be extra lively and energetic when we wrestle and play tag which always makes humans laugh, and sometimes worry we’ll spill the water in our bowl... hehe.

Yes we love each other but we also love humans and receiving attention from them. We aren’t shy about asking for attention. Pets? Kisses? Cuddles? We’re ready for them and will purr to let you know how much we love them. We'll even be on the bed with you at night so we can be near you even though we're all sleeping and I'm always up for cuddling with you before falling asleep.

I do have a special request for our forever family. No matter how much time and effort I put into grooming Kurt, I can never get his fur looking and feeling as nice as when it’s brushed. Unfortunately I don’t know how to use a brush so please help make my job easier by brushing his fur. Both he and I will really appreciate it.

We have big hearts with lots of love to give to our forever family, and plenty of energy to share with them too!

Leo

Leo

Hi! I'm Leo, an orange tabby with a cute wrinkled whisker and a ton of love to give. I was found in Lathrop as a stray, but luckily, I was taken care of by some really nice people. Since I'm so loving, charming, and gentle, they asked Give Me Shelter to find a forever home.

I can be a little shy at first in a new environment and may hiss at you a bit from my cat cave, but don't mind me because I don't mean it! Once I realized that my foster parents are here to help me, it didn't take long for me to turn into an orange purr machine. My foster dad says that I purr so loud he can feel my entire body vibrate. Once I'm more comfortable with you and the environment, I'll run to you for pets and even explore new areas of the home. If you hit the right spot under my chin, I might even start drooling. I let my foster parents know I'm happy by rubbing against them and showing them how fluffy my belly can be.

I enjoy food, but what I enjoy even more is a string toy. I could spend the entire day chasing after a string toy. I'm really good at catching the string toy and playing a little tug of war with you. Once I win the tug of war (as I always do), I'll bring the string toy back to my safe space to make sure it doesn't escape from me.

I have a foster brother at my current foster home, and I have to tell you that I'm an amazing little brother! I'm never aggressive with my foster brother, and I'm always available for a little wrestling when he challenges me. He helps me explore new areas of the home, and we chase each other around for fun up and down the stairs.

I'm looking for a quiet home with parents who will help me come out of my shell, and it's a bonus if there's another kitty friend for me to play with. It might take a little work, but trust me, my purrs and loving personality will melt your heart.

You can see more of me on Instagram @natti.to.

Hi! We're Lila and Marlon! Give Me Shelter rescued me a couple years ago after I was found in Tracy, CA. Marlon and I were adopted by a pawsome man who loved us so much but sadly he unexpectedly died. We were heartbroken. Now that we’ve had some time to process everything, we’re ready to find our new family!

I’m an adorable tuxedo with a plush coat made for petting and a darling white ring of fur around my tail and a white tip to top it off. I’m initially shy but my sweet purrsonality quickly emerges because I love humans.

Marlon and I are like two peas in a pod. We’re mellow, confident, easy-going, and lovable kitties. We’re both snugglers and love to be by our person. We’ll be by their side whether we’re relaxing on the couch or sleeping on the bed. We also have curious and playful sides. We like to be in the middle of things and will be right there to investigate what’s going on. We’ll even contribute to the action when we can.. hee hee.

We’re looking for a forever home together and we can’t wait to meet them so we can start cuddling!

Miles

Miles

Hi! I'm Miles! I was rescued on the streets in San Francisco as a kitten. I was previously adopted but the other kitty who was already living there bullied me. I was so sad because I always got along really well with other kitties in the past and I even get along with the kitties I live with now in my foster home. I really don’t know why he picked on me but I do know it wasn't easy for me.

I’m initially shy in new environments but it’s understandable after living on edge in my previous home and tiptoeing around the other kitty not knowing when I might need to run and hide. When I first arrived in my foster home I looked for any place where I could hide because I didn’t know where I was or who was here. I’ll admit it, I was scared. I managed to find a few places where even my foster human didn’t think to look but once she realized I’m a Houdini, she made sure to secure the places where she didn’t want me hiding. It took me some time to relax and realize no one was going to bully me here and now I’m feeling more like my usual kind and lovable self.

I’m a handsome, sweet, mellow, and gentle kitty. I love receiving attention from my humans and also enjoy companionship with mellow, easy-going furiends who don’t need to be the alpha kitty. I’ve already made a furiend here in my foster home and we occasionally cuddle up together in a bed, he’s very sweet like me. Although I’m laid-back most of the time, I do have a playful side too. Whether it’s tapping a mouse between my paws or chasing a wand toy, I do like to play now and then.

I’m looking for a quieter home with a patient family who understands I’ll need some time to feel safe and secure before I begin opening up. I'll be happiest in a mature family that will respect my need for gentle love and if you have a chill kitty who would like a chill furiend that would be great!

I had a really hard time living with a kitty who did everything to intimidate me but that’s all in the past. I’m ready for a fresh start with a family whom I can love furever!

Mouse

Hi! We're Mouse and Dusty! We were rescued at ACT Spay/Neuter Clinic in Stockton, CA.

I’m a confident, curious, playful and affectionate kitty, and I might be petite in size but I’m extra large in purrsonality.

I was out of my carrier the second our foster humans opened it because I was excited to meet them and I’m always ready to check things out. Nothing hinders my curiosity and confidence, not even the vacuum cleaner! Our foster parents kept an extra eye on me in the beginning so they could remind me where I was and wasn’t allowed… hee hee. I’m the more confident one and I help encourage Dusty in new environments. He isn’t a really shy kitty, he just needs a gentle nudge and I’m the purrfect kitty to do it!

I have lots of energy and am always excited to play! I’m having lots of fun playing with Dusty, our foster human, and all of the neat toys here. It didn’t take me long to figure out how to play with all of the toys so I guess you can add smart to my list of impressive purrsonality traits.

I’m also very affectionate. I was headbutting and asking for love the first week we arrived. I like to snuggle up for a snooze next to our foster humans and/or Dusty and although I’m not a lap cat yet, I always love being around Dusty and my humans.

We’re looking for a home together with a family who’s fun and loving, just like us!!

Oreo

Oreo

Hi! My name is Oreo! I was rescued on the streets in Oman. I was living on the streets but spent lots of time in a school car park where I visited the school staff and children. They all loved me and I loved them. Suddenly one day the staff was told I was going to be "relocated", which basically means I would be taken to the desert and left there, but the kind and caring staff was not going to let that happen. One of the staff members took me home even though she had four cats and knew I probably wouldn't get along with them... that's how much I was loved. They were able to find a local rescue group to help me but unfortunately it isn't so easy finding a safe and loving home in Oman so here I am in San Francisco!

I’m full of purrsonality - I'm a friendly, loyal, social and confident kitty with a set of the cutest teefies to top it all off! I love humans and spending time with them. I’m super friendly and outgoing so I’ll happily strike up a conversation with you while asking for some pets. What’s better than hanging on the couch and chatting about our days or just chilling and netflixing? Nothing, especially when pets and head scratches are included.

I also enjoy playing, and yes you guessed it, especially when humans are playing with me. I love chasing and jumping for my feather toys! But I understand humans are sometimes busy so I’ll play by myself if you aren't available and I need to get my play on.

I'll be happiest with plenty of space for me to explore and big windows so I can watch the birdies. My dream home would even have a safe catio.

I’m an easy kitty and I know I’ll make a great addition to any family who will give me a safe and loving home. Maybe you’re the purrfect family for me!

You can see more of me here @returnoftheyeti. And although my previous foster home has different foster kitties now, you can still me when I was there by checking out @foster_cat_daddy.

Concerned about me being FIV+? There's lots of informative reading material online to free you of any worries. I can live a long healthy life and safely with other cats, meow. Here's one website that offers some important information - Best Friends - FIV FAQs

PacMan

PacMan

Hi! We're PacMan and BeBop (but our foster human calls us Paco and BB for short)!

I’m a very sweet and cuddly boy who will follow you around the house, be your little shadow, and greet you with soft meows when you come home. I love getting head scratches and have the loudest, most soothing purrs. Sometimes I’ll even begin purring when you’re just in the same room as me! I keep myself occupied with my little spring toys and when the mood strikes I go crazy for string toys, but usually I lean towards lounging around and relaxing in the same room with you.

Although I’ve settled into my foster home, loud noises, big objects, and sudden movements do sometimes still scare me. I’m just not used to big life changes but having some space and a quieter environment to decompress will help me adjust to my forever home just as it's helping me here.

We’re extremely gentle, loving and easy-going best furiends who are looking for a home together. We both love curling up on our cat tree and napping all afternoon long, but will be happiest in a home where humans are usually around because we really love human companionship! Maybe you’re the purrfect family for us!

Palmer

Palmer

Hi! I'm Palmer! After being with my previous family my entire life, I was surrendered because I'm not really tolerant of children and there was a toddler in the home. I was sad and heartbroken but lucky for me Give Me Shelter is helping me find a new family!

I’m a handsome, social and confident cat. I was immediately comfortable when I first arrived in my foster home and even let my foster human pick me up and hold me. Resting my front paws on my human’s shoulder and nuzzling my head into their chin and neck while being held makes me feel so loved. And I love receiving pets although for me, there is such a thing as too much of a good thing. I can sometimes become a bit over stimulated when I’m held for too long or pet for too long and will give a gentle nip to let you know when I’ve reached that point if you haven’t already picked up on my cues.

I’m a social cat and enjoy meeting new humans. I’ll run to the door to say hello when I hear someone and sometimes the neighbors stop and chat with me. Being the social cat I am, I have lots of fun playing with my foster human. The fleece wand toys are my favorites but I also fun playing by myself with some of my other toys. And although I'm a mature cat, I sometimes still get random bursts of energy and will run around and up and down my kitty tower which makes my foster human laugh. I’m also quite curious and I know it’s such a stereotype but I can be demanding when I want a closed door to be open. But don’t worry, my curious nature doesn’t translate to being impolite. I don’t wake up my foster human at night or jump onto counters or other places I shouldn’t be just because I’m a curious cat.

I’m looking for a loving adult-only family and a forever home where I can be the one and only kitty of the house. I was with my previous family my entire life and it was a bit traumatic for me when I lost them and my home. I need a patient family who understands this and who will give me some time to bond with them. I know my family is out there and I can't wait to meet them!

Petunia

Petunia

Hi! I'm Petunia! I was rescued in Tracy, CA after I was left in a carrier outside the door of the Tracy Animal Services building.

I’m a very friendly, curious, confident and all around pawsome Tabby girl. I came right out of my carrier when I arrived in my foster home and found a comfy kitty bed to relax on while giving lots of slow blinks and observing my new surroundings.

I have a knack for charming everyone with my adorable slow blinks. They’re irresistible and always initiate lots of pets and attention from humans. They’ve even grabbed the attention of the other kitties here but I need a little more time to get to know them better before I completely open up to them. I love spending time with my humans and receiving pets and scritches. When the pets stop and I want more, I’ll nudge you to politely let you know. I might even plop down and roll around to make sure you understand. When you’re on the couch relaxing, I’ll lie down and relax with you.

I’m a curious and athletic kitty with a sense of adventure. I was out exploring everywhere and everything in my foster home within just a couple hours. And when I say everywhere, I mean places down low and up high. I enjoy climbing on top of things and finding spots with views. Speaking of views, when I found the windows here I was so excited. Watching the birdies outside is one of my favorite things to do! I also enjoy playing with toys and once I get to know the other kitties here I hope to play with them too!

If you’re looking to add a beautiful, friendly and confident kitty to your family you should apply to meet me!

You can see more of me in my foster home here @blocky_buds.

Pinky

Pinky

Hi! We're Pinky and Simon! We were rescued in Stockton, CA.

My brother and I have very similar purrsonalities and are told we’re like two peas in a pod. We like to take things a bit slow in the beginning because trust takes time but we really help each other out in this department.

I’m an adorable Tuxedo girl with an adorable meow to match. I was a bit more nervous than my brother when we first arrived but watching him open up helped me do the same. When I saw him out and about around of our foster human, I knew it was safe to join him.

I’m a foodie but not a picky one. Food is a great motivator for me and a pawsome way to help build trust. And don’t forget the treats! Especially those yummy squeezable treats… hee hee. Our foster human caught onto my love for food quickly and knew giving me pets while I ate would help me learn to trust her. Now I greet her with a happy tail when it’s mealtime and will happily eat treats from her hand.

Then the toys came out! I didn’t jump in right away but I did make it clear I was very interested in playing. I always have fun playing with my brother and now I’m having fun playing with our foster human too! The toys that wave through the air and bounce around taunting and challenging me to catch them are lots of fun. I climb up our cat tree to get them and hide in cubbies so I can jump out to show off my hunting skills.

We’re looking for a patient family who understands some kitties need a little extra time to open up and reveal their true purrsonalities. We purromise your patience will be worth the wait!

Scout

Scout

Hi! I'm Scout! I was adopted from a rescue in Brooklyn, NY with my bestest furiend and moved to San Francisco with our previous human. We were living the good life as indoor-only kitties when out of the blue, she put us outside and that was the last time we saw her. Not only did I lose my person and home, but sadly I also lost my bestest furiend to kidney cancer.

I'm a shy guy but can you blame me after all of the uncertainties I’ve had to deal with after being abandoned outside and losing my bestest furiend? I’m just unsure about who I can trust so I’m playing it safe by making sure I keep some personal space when humans are nearby. Sometimes when I want to chill, I'll hang out in my kitty cave so I can just relax and observe what’s going on around me. I did hide when I first arrived in my foster home but now I’m out and about with my tail up even though I’m still keeping personal space around humans most of the time.

There is one thing, however, that makes me forget all about personal space… food! When it’s mealtime I’ll be there. It’s the purrfect time to give me some pets while we’re getting to know one another, but only pets from the back please until we’ve built some trust. Oh, and I’m not shy about grabbing food from my furiends and helping myself to it… haha! You can see just how stealthy I am in the video below.

I'm a chill kitty and I prefer a relaxed lifestyle over a playful and adventurous lifestyle. Lying on the couch or on top of a cat tree by a window sounds purrfect to me.

I’m not going to let my previous person ruin my love for humans. I have lots of love to share, I just need a family who understands shy kitties and who will take things slow while helping me learn to trust you. I miss having my bestest furiend around but I know there are other great kitties out there and having a more confident kitty around will also really help me feel like my old self.

Although I’m a bit nervous, I’m super excited to have a family again. Maybe you’ll make me a part of your family!

Simon

Simon

Hi! We're Simon and Pinky! We were rescued in Stockton, CA.

My sister and I have very similar purrsonalities and are told we’re like two peas in a pod. We like to take things a bit slow in the beginning because trust takes time but we really help each other out in this department.

I’m a very handsome Tabby boy with a white bib and mittens to match. I was a bit more confident than my sister when we first arrived so I helped show her we didn't need to hide and that we were safe and could explore our new place.

I’m a foodie, just like my sister. Mealtime was a great way for our foster human to interact with me in the beginning. My hesitations vanished when my meal appeared and I happily ate in front of her. Then she began giving me nice pets while I ate and that was super nice. But you know what’s even better? Yummy treats! They’re extra super nice! I love those tube treats and the crunchy ones I can eat out of her hands.

I’m having lots of fun playing with Pinkie, our toys and our foster human. It took me a little time to jump in and begin playing with our foster human but my sister really helped me out in this department. Seeing her let loose and play with our foster human showed me I didn’t need to be wary of joining in. My sister is still so much better at jumping and batting the wand toys but I’m starting to get the hang of it now that I understand the game.

We’re looking for a patient family who understands some kitties need a little extra time to open up and reveal their true purrsonalities. We purromise your patience will be worth the wait!

Slippers

Slippers

I’m a stunning Siamese Snowshoe Chocolate Point mix with a cream body and socks and a chocolate brown tail and face that frames my gorgeous aqua blue eyes. I’m a sweetheart and I love affection, like to talk, and love ear rubs, head rubs and back rubs!  All our foster mom needs to do is lay her palm out and I rest my head in it for rubs. Get this, I even like my front toes to be gently touched!  I don’t know if I’m a lap cat yet, but I’ve grown to love stretching out on the couch or bed next to our foster mom after play time. I now allow her to pick me up and am getting more and more comfortable with it. I have lots of fun running, jumping, and rolling around with my sister, Ashley. Our foster mom opens up our room so we get to explore the whole house, socialize with the resident kitties, and we’re mesmerized by watching the animal kingdom in action on TV.

You can see more of us in our foster home. Just click here @ashley_and_slippers to go to our Instagram account.

Spreckles

Spreckles

Hi! I'm Speckles! I was rescued at San Francisco Animal Care & Control.

I’m a gorgeous Calico with Tortoiseshell patterned fur and a bit of Tortie cattitude to match. I'm shy at first and maybe even a little sassy but really I’m just a quirky little lovebug in the rough.

Once I warm up, I’m very sweet and love receiving pets and massages. I’ll happily announce when it’s time for pets, armpit scritches, and tummy rubs. And if you really want to pamper me, I love being brushed because not only does it feel fabulous, but it also helps my gorgeous fur look its best. I’m not quite a lap cat yet but my foster human thinks it will happen one day.

I’m all about receiving pets and being worshipped but I do remove my crown now and then to reveal my playful side. I love peacock feathers because they sort of hypnotize me while making me feel at ease right before I attack them… muahahah!! But if you really want to see me let loose, just toss a few treats and my rambunctious and cartoonish character will be on full display. My foster human is training me to “sit” on command and jump through hoops and yes, I’ll do it for her sometimes but not all of the time because I need to make sure she knows I’m the boss… hee hee.

I think I would enjoy having a kitty furiend around who has a calm and quiet purrsonality but as long as I receive lots of love from my human and have lots of windows to look outside, I’ll be a happy kitty.

I’m on the hunt for a patient and cat savvy human who speaks my language, will appreciate my silly and occasionally sassy purrsonality, and will join me on my journey towards becoming more comfortable and confident.

You can see more of me here @missspreckles.

Teddy

Teddy

Hi! I'm Teddy!  My foster mom rescued me off the street in San Francisco on Easter night. She said she was so happy to quickly realize how sweet, gentle, and lovable I am *blush*.  I think that's why she named me Teddy - cuz I love to get cozy and cuddle just like a Teddy Bear!

I must admit, I DO love snuggling.  I will warm up to you pretty quickly and show you how affectionate I am.  Oh, and I love chin scratches and gentle pets. My foster mom loves how I roll over to show my soft white belly. Yep, Belly rubs are my jam!

I get a little scared of new people at first, but don't worry I don't growl or hiss - I just hide for a bit and then I peek out when I'm ready to say meow meow 'hellooooo'.

I can be your one and only kitty or I can be a fun-loving playmate buddy to your resident cat.  Oh gosh, I can't wait to meet you and cuddle with you every day.
